FAQ

Q: How much are your sessions?
My sessions are £75 for a family of up to four people.

Q: Do you accept credit card?
A: I do not accept credit cards, but i do accept cash, cheque or BACS payments.

Q: What do we wear for family portraits?
A: Probably the most important thing is to make sure you wear clothes that make you feel good about yourself.  If you feel good and secure in your clothes (and your happy with how your kids look), then you’ll feel happy in yourself and  we’ll get some great shots of you all looking and feeling wonderful.
It’s also really good to show a little personality in your clothes and accessories because then your personalities will shine through in the photographs.
If you are the type of family to wear similar tones and styles, then that’s brilliant because the photos will be beautiful, but similarly if you are the sort of family to wear bright bold colours with stripes and small polkadots then this is cool too.
It is all about you after all.

A few things that are best to avoid are big logos and words on clothing, all of you in soft colours but one of you in bright red! and polka dots as big as your head. (it’s just too distracting in the final images)

Here are a couple of Pinterest Boards i’ve created with some lovely examples on:

Q: What happens if there’s bad weather on the day of the session?
If the weather is really dreadful then we have two options, we can reschedule your session to another time to suit both of us or if you are a small group then we can move into the studio.

Q: Should I wait and loose weight before booking a photo shoot?
A: I would always answer no to this, your family love you for who you are now, not who you may or may not be next year, so go for it.
Having said that, obviously i want everybody to look their absolute best in my photographs so i’m not against giving you a little photographic enhancement afterwards if you like, just chat to me about it before or during or even after.

Q: Do I come to you or you come to me for my photo shoot?
A: The short answer to this is whatever you prefer.
The longer answer is if you would like an outdoor shoot using natural lighting at a favourite location, then we can meet wherever you like, but if you prefer the studio look then you have to come to my studio.

Q: How long will the session be?
A: Photo shoots usually last around 1 hour, sometimes during a family photo shoot I will end it early because children’s attention spans are a lot shorter than ours, newborns often take longer to allow for feeding and changing etc…

Q: How many images will be in my gallery?
A: I aim to show you a minimum of 30 images in your gallery, this means i’ve already gone through them and removed all the ones where somebody is blinking or pulling a funny face.

Q: How will I be able to view my images?
A: Usually i create an online gallery that you can send around to family and friends, other times i will show you the images in person on a computer screen or an ipad.

Q: How long will it take for me to receive my images?
A: For photoshoots i usually try to deliver them all within 7-14 days but at busy times this may be longer. For weddings it can take longer due to the amount of photographs that need editing.

Q: I’m a single mum, will that matter in my ‘family’ portraits?
Absolutely not, families are made up in a multitude of ways and all of them are great and none of them are wrong.
You should celebrate your family whatever the dynamics, be it just you and your child or you, your new partner and a whole heap of children and dogs.
It’s all good.

Q: Will you edit blemishes and spots out afterwards?
A: Yes of course, if a blemish or a spot or scratch won’t be there in two weeks then i’ll edit it out by default, if it’s a freckle then i’d probably leave it in after all that’s part of you, and you are important, I am of course happy to follow your guidance and work with you on additional editing.
If your child fell over the day before your shoot then don’t worry, I can usually edit out any minor bruises or scratches or cuts etc… but if the bruise/scratch/cut is quite severe then perhaps give me a ring just to check that it’s still ok to go ahead.

If you would like additional photoshop enhancement then just have a chat to me about what you would like, eg: slimming down or removing lines or wrinkles.

Q: Will I be able to put these photos on my social media accounts?
A: When you order digital files, I will supply you with low resolution images which will be perfectly suitable for sharing on all social media platforms.

Q: What does high resolution mean?
A: When you order digital files from me then I deliver both high resolution and low resolution images.
Put into some very basic terms, resolution is the quality of the image. As the resolution goes up, the image becomes more clear. It becomes sharper, more defined, and more detailed as well.

Q: Can you frame the prints i order from you?
A: Yes i most certainly can, i use a local picture framer called Sam who is very good and we can either work together to present you with a framed print or you can go direct to her.
